Bale Sutra Hotel Tugu Bali Becomes Stage for Heritage and Cultural Harmony
Celebrate Chinese New Year at Hotel Tugu Bali through Under the Red Lanterns, a Peranakan six-course feast, Lion Dance–Barong performance, and historic dining at Bale Sutra.
BALI – Welcoming the Lunar New Year, Hotel Tugu Bali presents a special dining celebration titled “Under the Red Lanterns: Peranakan Feast of Prosperity and Reunion.”The event combines Chinese heritage, Balinese spirituality, and culinary storytelling in one meaningful evening designed to symbolize unity, protection, and hopes for renewed fortune.
The celebration will take place at Bale Sutra, a historic building originally constructed in 1706 during the Kang Xi era. The temple, which has stood for more than three centuries, is now transformed into one of the most iconic dining venues in Bali.
Guests will enjoy dinner surrounded by valuable collections, including the statue of the 19th-century Japanese Kanon Goddess, antique scroll paintings, and charcoal portraits of Bali’s last kings.
The program opens with a unique cultural attraction featuring a ceremonial duet between the **Chinese Lion Dance** and the **Balinese Barong**. The collaboration represents balance, resilience, and collective blessings, while also reflecting the long relationship between Chinese and Balinese cultural traditions.
Six Courses Full of Symbolic Wishes

Hotel Tugu Bali prepares a six-course menu inspired by Lunar New Year philosophy, where each dish carries prayers for abundance, longevity, harmony, and togetherness.
The dinner begins with a Yu Sheng–inspired salad made from fresh vegetables, tuna, citrus, sesame, and peanuts. Traditionally, the salad is tossed together as a symbol of prosperity and new beginnings.
Guests will then be served a double-boiled herbal chicken truffle soup with goji berries and traditional Chinese herbs. A vegetarian option is also available to represent health and long life for everyone at the table.
For the main dishes, diners can savor crispy pork belly with chili oil and black vinegar, as well as tea-smoked duck complemented by plum sauce, bok choy, and fragrant Hainan rice.
Vegetarian selections include braised eggplant with tofu and Buddha’s Delight, widely known as a dish that symbolizes balance and mindfulness.
One of the highlights of the evening is the sharing of two-meter-long longevity noodles, representing enduring fortune and strong family ties. As dessert, warm tang yuan filled with caramelized nuts, red bean, and sesame will be served alongside fortune cookies and Chinese floral tea.

Date, Venue, and Reservation
This special Chinese New Year celebration will be held on Tuesday, 17 February 2026, starting at 7 PM at Bale Sutra, Hotel Tugu Bali. The price is set at IDR 588,000++ per person.
