TIMES AUSTRALIA, JAKARTA – Andini Ferdiana, an English Literature student at Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University, Malang, has captured public attention as the singer of the soundtrack for a local movie Tak Kenal Maka Taaruf. With her golden voice, she performs Majas Cinta, a song that embodies the soul of this religious and romantic film.

Andini shared how her journey began in April when her lecturer, Miss Whida, asked her to perform at a book discussion event held by the Faculty of Humanities. Among the attendees was Mim Yudiarto, the author of the novel Tak Kenal Maka Taaruf, which was being adapted into a film.

“The film crew was looking for a singer for the soundtrack. Mr. Mim gave me the chance to sing Majas Cinta. After the recording was reviewed, I was chosen, alhamdulillah,” Andini expressed with gratitude.

Becoming a Soundtrack Singer

For Andini, being selected as a soundtrack singer is a dream come true. Since childhood, she has had a deep passion for singing. “When I heard the news, I was overjoyed and grateful. It’s like a motivation to keep learning and becoming a better singer,” she said.

Majas Cinta, an essential part of the film, conveys a heartfelt message about sincere love. For her, delivering that emotion through her voice was a challenge.

“Technically, the song involves vocal techniques that are quite demanding. I had to work on vocal strength, pitch stability, and transitioning between low and high ranges. All of it required thorough preparation,” she explained.

She also emphasized the song’s critical role in enhancing the audience's emotional connection to the film. “This song feels like the soul of the movie. Besides the actors' performances, the music is key to making the audience truly feel the story,” she added.

Balancing Studies and Music

As a university student, Andini prioritizes her education. However, she appreciates the film production team’s understanding of her responsibilities.

“I always set priorities. If I have assignments, I complete them first. If there’s an unavoidable singing schedule, I find spare time to work on my tasks,” she shared about managing her time.

Her success as a soundtrack singer has been met with full support from her family, friends, and lecturers. “Alhamdulillah, everyone responded positively. They support and pray for the best for me,” she said with a smile.

This experience is a significant step for Andini in pursuing her dream in the music industry. In addition to honing her singing skills, she aspires to become a music producer in the future.

Even so, she remains committed to her primary responsibility as a student. “I want to finish my studies first. But if opportunities in music arise, I’ll take them wholeheartedly,” she said.

A Song That Brings the Film to Life

The film Tak Kenal Maka Taaruf tells a love story enriched with Islamic values. Majas Cinta serves as a vital element that enhances the film’s narrative. “As the singer, I hope the emotions in this song can resonate with listeners. I wish for the song to inspire many people,” Andini said hopefully.

Becoming a soundtrack singer is Andini’s first experience in the industry, but she is optimistic that it won’t be her last. With her talent and determination, she is ready to take further steps in music while staying true to her roots in academia.

“I hope to keep creating and contributing, both in music and literature,” she concluded.
