TIMES AUSTRALIA, JAKARTA – Wayan Tony Supriyanto, the Director-General of Post and Informatics Organization at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, has announced that citizens can utilize the SIGMON application to check connectivity during the 2024 Eid al-Fitr travel period.

The SIGMON application, downloadable for both Android and iOS smartphones, serves as a connectivity speed measurement app developed by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.

"People can utilize the SIGMON application to measure the quality of telecommunication services in real-time at their current locations," stated Wayan.

"The data from SIGMON measurements will be automatically sent to the Telecommunication Monitoring Center (PMT) system. If the measurement results show speeds below 1 Mbps, the PMT system will issue tickets to operators for follow-up and improvement," he explained.

The SIGMON application features Speed Test, Web Test, Video Test, Multi Test, My Stat, RF Parameter, Route Test, and Network Map functionalities.

Network speed and quality when accessing digital services can be checked using the Speed Test, Web Test, Video Test, and Multi Test features. All test results can be viewed through the History option.

The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology hopes that citizens will actively monitor connectivity using the app to help maintain the quality of telecommunication services.

In addition to the application, the 24/7-operational PMT will monitor social media complaints to ensure smooth connectivity.

"One of the monitoring tasks performed by the PMT is monitoring public complaints on social media. If there are complaints about telecommunication service disruptions from the public, the PMT will issue tickets to operators for follow-up and improvement," said Wayan.

The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kemenkominfo) introduces the SIGMON application as a tool for measuring cellular network quality in Indonesia.

The Director of Control at the Directorate General of Post and Informatics Organization (Ditjen PPI) at Kemenkominfo, Dany Suwardany, stated that the application aims to provide insights into the quality of cellular network services for internet, SMS, and telephone services.

"This is to assess the user experience regarding telecommunication service quality. Users can utilize the speed test feature to measure video or web services, and the results will be displayed," said Dany in Jakarta, on Thursday.

Dany explained that SIGMON stands for Signal Monitoring, which literally translates to sinyal monitoring in Indonesian.

The application is now available on application stores for both Android and iOS users.

When tried by Indonesian Times, users must first create a new account, and for convenience, SIGMON offers two instant options for registration: using a Google account or a Facebook social media account.

After successfully creating an account, users can immediately utilize SIGMON's services.

The main features include "Speed Test," "Web Test," "Video Test," "Multi Test," "My Stat," "RF Parameter," and "Route Test."

To test network speed and quality, users can use the "Speed Test," "Web Test," "Video Test," and "Multi Test" features. All test results can be viewed through the "History" option.

For daily network quality monitoring, users can view it in the "My Stat" feature.

Features for technical testing such as network coverage measurement and radio frequency can be seen in the "Route Test" and "RF Parameter" features.

Kemenkominfo plans to introduce a complaint service if unsatisfactory network results are found, so they can be followed up and improved.

Currently, similar features are not yet available to the public and are only accessible to local government representatives, but they will eventually be available to the public.

"We hope that citizens can provide direct feedback so that they can later lodge complaints about better cellular service quality," said Dany. (*)
