TIMES AUSTRALIA, MALANG – The D4 English for Business Communication and Professional (equal to regular Bachelor Degree) at the State Polytechnic of Malang (Polinema) held the English Multicultural Exhibition (EMCE) 2024.
The event titled “Intercultural Spectacle: The First Step Into Greatness” held at Graha Theater of State Polytechnic of Malang featured cultures from 12 countries presented by first-year students in the second semester.
“EMCE Polinema 2024 is not just a cultural exhibition, but also a learning platform for students, especially the second semester,” said Siti Rohani, Ph.D, coordinator of the D4 English for Business and Professional Communication study program.
She also mentioned that this event aims to implement the learning outcomes from courses such as Intercultural Business Communication and English for Business Communication.

In addition, this event is also a UAS project for second semester students, so all participants in the event must use English as a means of communication.
“By understanding the cultures of different countries, we hope students can be more fluent and able to apply the business communication skills they learn in class,” the lady added.
Siti Rohani hopes that this event can motivate students of State Polytechnic of Malang and all visitors to practice English language skills and business communication through foreign cultures.
The preparation of this event is done together in detail by the lecturers and student coordinators.
“We only have two weeks to form the team and coordinate the groups in each class,” explained Arvel Najmy Anggono, Chief Executive of EMCE 2024.
Each class divided into three groups, a total of 12 groups from four classes. The biggest challenge was coordinating the preparation of the event with limited time.
The event attracted many visitors from inside the State Polytechnic of Malang campus and outside the campus. They were very enthusiastic about attending this event. EMCE 2024 is proof that the enthusiasm of the visitors who attended was very happy because it was free of charge to attend this event.
“I enjoyed visiting this event because there are many foreign cultures that I don't know about,” said Aqila Putri Suharinurjaya, one of the visitors. She also said that she was amazed to visit this event, the booth keepers could provide information about the fun facts of these countries and could also imagine the cultures that exist in her dream country.
This event not only provides valuable experience for State Polytechnic of Malang students, but also for other visitors from both on campus and off campus. This is also a real proof as a gateway for the younger generation to open their horizons in learning foreign cultures through this activity.
“I hope this event can motivate students to learn or practice their English skills and continue to practice business communication skills through the culture used abroad,” said Siti Rohani, Ph. D, coordinator of the D4 English for Business and Professional Communication study program at the State Polytechnic of Malang. (*)
