TIMES AUSTRALIA, MALANG – The rector of UIN Malang Prof Abdul Haris, Mag determined to create a science tech-religion based campus to go worldwide. He also trying to make the university becomes a sustainable green campus which he stated on an online workshop entitled UI GreenMetric hosted by UIN Walisongo Semarang.

The UI GreenMetric is a World University Ranking which initiated by Universitas Indonesia which being launched in 2010. The aim of this ranking is to provide the result of online survey regarding the current condition and policies related to green campus and sustainability in the universities all over the world.

For the occasion, the workshop holds 7 professional native speakers which was divided into three sessions of workshop. The first session includes Governor of Central Java, H Ganjar Pranowo, SH MIP, Rectpr of UIN Walisongo, Semarang, Prof DR H Imam Taufiq and The Chairman of UI GreenMetric World University Ranking, Prof DR Ir Riri Fitri Sari MSc MM.

The second session was followed by the rector of UIN Malang, Prof DR Abdul Haris, M.Ag,  rector of Muhammadiyah University Jogyakarta, DR Ir Gunawan Budiyanto, MP and the First Deputy of UIN Walisongo, Semarang, DR M Mukhsin Jamil, MAg.

Meanwhile on the last session, the workshop took Rector of UIN Raden Intan Lampung, Prof DR H Moh Mukri, MAg, Rector of Universitas Islam Indonesia, Prof Fathul Wahid, S.T, M.Sc, Ph.D and Rector of IAIN Samarinda, DR H. Mukhamad Ilyasin, MP.

On the occasion, Abdul Haris stated that UI GreenMatric has become one of the university visions to create a sustainable green campus in the future. It’s one of their way to manage the university so they could be ready for the incoming climate change.

“We have had a clear guideline to become a qualified sustainable green campus,” Haris said on Thursday (25/6/2020.

Furthermore, the rector also explained that UIN Malang has developed their campus to be a green campus such as having an open space area for their water reservoir, and having their very own forest to emits the carbon dioxide. They also have Friday Planting Program which involved all the staff and students to make the campus have more vegetation landscape.

They also design their class to have an optimal sunlight exposure so they could reduce the use of electricity as the light power. They also design all the building to have a good air circulation. The lanes also designed with green all around. This was all created to make UIN Malang ready to face global warming and climate change. (*)
